Just as the recent storm tore through the northwest the night before, City blew the visitors away at the their home ground. It was a statement 3-0 win for their manager's side owing to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a performance that clearly signaled their title credentials as they strengthened their standing at the league summit.

Successive Setbacks for United

This scoreline represented consecutive Women's Super League setbacks for Skinner's side for the maiden instance since May 2024, putting them a significant margin off the table toppers with their championship aspirations hanging by a thread.

Manchester United's ability to balance domestic and European soccer with a small squad has been a hotly discussed subject since they earned a place in the Champions League. The home side, in contrast, could have added to their advantage when a delightful Miedema through ball sent Bunny Shaw away only for her to fluff her lines but it did not affect the result to the hosts.
